The Casa Serra, built between 1903 and 1908 by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, is a Modernist residential palace commissioned by Pere Serra, who ultimately never lived there. Today, the building houses the Diputació de Barcelona and is listed as a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN). From the original design, only two angled wings connected by a central circular tower remain. The structure perfectly embodies Puig i Cadafalch’s Modernist style, blending Gothic, Renaissance, and Plateresque influences. The façade facing Rambla de Catalunya reproduces the doorway of Casa Gralla, a historic mansion demolished in 1856. On the first-floor window lintels are sculpted busts of notable artists such as Cervantes, Wagner, and Fortuny, symbolizing the dialogue between art and European culture.
