The Palau Robert, located at 107 Passeig de Gràcia, at the corner of Avinguda Diagonal, is a Neoclassical palace built between 1897 and 1903 as the residence of the financier Robert Robert i Surís, Marquis of Robert. Designed by the French architect Henry Grandpierre and supervised by Joan Martorell i Montells, the building is made of Montgrí stone and organized around a large central courtyard covered by a skylight. Its classical style stands in contrast to the Modernisme movement that dominated Barcelona at the time. Over the years, the palace has had several owners: confiscated by the Republican Generalitat in 1936, it later belonged to Julio Muñoz Ramonet, then to the Banco Central, before being acquired by the Government of Catalonia in 1981. The gardens, originally designed by Ramon Oliva Bogunyà, were opened to the public and renovated in 2003 by Sílvia Farriol, Bet Figueras, and Miguel Milà. Today, the Palau Robert serves as a space for exhibitions, tourist information, and cultural activities, open to everyone.
