Musée Le Bunker

Built in 1941 in the heart of La Rochelle, the Admiral’s Bunker served as a secret shelter for the German Navy during World War II. Hidden from view, it housed 62 bunks, an admiral’s office, and even a bar, protected by 2 meters of reinforced concrete. Forgotten after the Liberation, it was rediscovered by chance in 1982, then restored and opened to the public in 2013 by history enthusiasts. Today, this unique site allows visitors to relive the daily life of German officers and understand life under the Occupation, through authentic artifacts and detailed reconstructions.
