Parc Alcide d'Orbigny

Parc Alcide d'Orbigny is a 3.7-hectare green space on the oceanfront, extending from the Allées du Mail and Parc Franck Delmas. Formerly known as the 'Champ du Mail' or 'Champ des Régates', it is named after Alcide d'Orbigny, former president of the Chamber of Commerce and mayor of La Rochelle from 1893 to 1905. Filled with majestic green oaks and pine trees, it offers sweeping views over the bay and the Minimes marina. Several paths have been renamed in tribute to leading figures in the fight against slavery, including the Aimé Césaire Alley and the Toussaint Louverture Promenade. A peaceful park where history and nature meet by the ocean.
