Caixa de Pensions Building

Constructed between 1913 and 1917 at the corner of Via Laietana and Carrer Jonqueres, this building was designed by Enric Sagnier to house the central headquarters of the Caixa de Pensions. Sagnier employs a Modernista language rooted in Gothic forms. Particularly notable are the tower — its shape derived from Central European Gothic church spires — the pointed arch with polychrome stained glass, and the corner sculptural group by Manuel Fuxà, an allegory of Savings.
