Casa Batlló

Located at 43 Passeig de Gràcia, Casa Batlló was built in 1877 by Emili Sala Cortés. In 1903, industrialist Josep Batlló entrusted Antoni Gaudí with the complete transformation of the building, carried out between 1904 and 1906. Gaudí reinvented the façade, redesigned the interior layout, and turned the house into an icon of Catalan Modernism, combining aesthetics and functionality. It stands on the famous “Block of Discord”, alongside works by Puig i Cadafalch, Domènech i Montaner, Sagnier, and Coquillat. Since the 1990s, the Bernat family has restored the building and opened it to the public. Today, Casa Batlló is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, welcomes over one million visitors each year, and is an essential stop to discover Gaudí and Modernist architecture.
