Casa Joan Bertrand

The Casa Joan Bertrand, built in 1901 on Passeig de Gràcia, is an eclectic-style building typical of the turn of the 20th century. It belonged to the Bertrand family, prominent Barcelona industrialists of the early 1900s. Its façade stands out for four painted panels depicting female figures that represent the four seasons of the year, adorning the central axis of the building. The ground floor has had several uses over time: it first housed a lacquered wicker furniture workshop owned by Joan Baró, and later became the Casablanca cinema, which operated between 1980 and 2011. In 2003, the building was renovated and converted into tourist apartments, while fully preserving its historic façade.
