Sculpture Barcelona

Created in 1928 by Frederic Marès Deulovol, this bronze sculpture is part of the set of four provincial allegories commissioned for the 1929 International Exhibition. It represents Barcelona through a nude woman seated on a horse, raising a ship above her head, accompanied by a figure of Hermes holding a gear and the reins. The ensemble symbolizes industry, commerce, and navigation, in a noucentista style with powerful, classical forms.
