Sculpture Dona amb Marededéu

Created in 1928 by Enric Monjo Garriga, this bronze sculpture, inspired by noucentisme, depicts a slender woman dressed in a tunic that fully covers her body. She holds in her arms an image of the Virgin of Núria with the Child, sometimes mistakenly identified as the Virgin of Pilar. The work stands out from the other statues in Plaça de Catalunya for its sobriety and religious character, hallmarks of Monjo’s early artistic period.
