Sculpture Girona

Created in 1928 by Antoni Parera Saurina, this bronze composition is part of a set of four sculptural groups dedicated to the Catalan provinces, made for the 1929 International Exhibition. At its center stands a bull, symbol of Girona’s livestock tradition, surrounded by four nearly nude figures draped in classical tunics. One of them holds a large basket of fruit, an allegory of local agriculture. Parera’s academic and noble style embodies the harmonious sensitivity characteristic of noucentisme.
