The Hivernacle of Ciutadella Park, built 135 years ago for the 1888 Universal Exhibition by Josep Amargós i Samaranch, is a unique heritage building recently incorporated into the Natural Science Museum of Barcelona (January 2025). Together with the Castle of the Three Dragons, the Umbracle, and the Martorell Exhibition Centre, it is part of the «Ciutadella del Coneixement» project, which is transforming the park into a European hub for research, scientific outreach, and innovation. Reopened to the public after many years of closure, the building is divided into three spaces: a central hall dedicated to scientific dissemination, the Magnòlies hall with a collection of living plants, and the Picasso hall for temporary exhibitions. Today, the Hivernacle serves as both a site for botanical preservation and exhibitions, as well as a venue for educational activities that bring nature and science closer to the public.
