Nestled at the foot of the Tour Saint-Nicolas on the Old Port quayside, the former Customs House has been home to the Yacht Club Classique of La Rochelle since 2005. This history-laden building, once a checkpoint for goods entering through the port, was lovingly restored by the club's volunteers and partners. The Yacht Club Classique brings together around a hundred owners of vintage sailing yachts, over two hundred crew members, and some 1,300 classic boats registered under the Classic Handicap rating. The association works to preserve and promote nautical heritage through regattas, rallies and exhibitions open to the public. Every Friday evening, members and visitors gather in this welcoming space to share their passion for traditional sailing, facing the historic harbour entrance.
