The birth of Oxploria

Oxploria was born in Barcelona.

While discovering the city, I kept noticing the same thing: all around me, there were places full of history, but almost no simple way to understand what they were telling.

An old façade.

A forgotten statue.

A small street crossed by several centuries.

To find out their story, you often had to spend long minutes searching online, opening several websites or browsing forums to find a few scattered pieces of information.

Meanwhile, most apps were mainly pushing the same restaurants, the same popular spots, and the same rankings.

It was from this frustration that the idea of Oxploria was born.

Create a different app.

Calmer. More cultural. More human.

An app that makes you want to slow down, look up, and rediscover cities differently.

The choice of the first cities came naturally: Barcelona, where the idea was born, and La Rochelle, my hometown.

Today, Oxploria is still an independent project built alone, after several months of development, historical research and data structuring, to build an experience designed around places and their stories.

From the very beginning, one idea has been particularly close to my heart: making history accessible to everyone.

That's why Oxploria is entirely free and ad-free for users.

Because discovering a city's history shouldn't depend on a subscription, a sponsored ranking, or an experience interrupted by ads.

And even if Oxploria evolves one day with partners or collaborations, the goal will remain the same: preserve a simple, independent experience that respects its users.

No invasive advertising.

No imposed content.

No sponsored rankings.

Just places, their stories, and the pleasure of discovering a city differently.
