Bust of Lleó Fontova

The bust of Lleó Fontova i Mareca (1838-1890), a Barcelona actor who popularized the works of Frederic Soler (Serafí Pitarra), was inaugurated in 1910 in the Ciutadella Park. Carved in marble by Pablo Gargallo, then a young sculptor, it is part of the series of commemorative monuments linked to the Jocs Florals. The inauguration was attended by the actor’s granddaughter, and a few years later, the Fontova Association of Buenos Aires, where part of his family lived, paid tribute to the monument.
