Bust of Pepita Teixidor

The bust of Pepita Teixidor (1875-1914), a painter who died prematurely, was inaugurated in 1917 in the Parc de la Ciutadella. Created by Manuel Fuxà, it depicts her wearing a blouse, with her hair tied up and a flower at her neckline, highlighting her grace and beauty. Erected thanks to a subscription led by Carme Karr, with the participation of artists and friends of the deceased, it is the only monument in the park dedicated to a woman. This rare tribute reflects the still marginal place of women artists in Barcelona during the Modernisme and Noucentisme periods.
