The sculpture Dona i Ocell (Woman and Bird), inaugurated in 1983, is one of the last major works by Joan Miró. Erected in Joan Miró Park, on the former site of the municipal slaughterhouse, it stands 21 meters tall and was created in collaboration with the ceramist Joan Gardy Artigas. Covered with colorful mosaics (red, yellow, green, blue), it reflects Miró’s dreamlike and symbolic universe. Its original title, Dona-bolet amb barret de lluna (Woman-mushroom with moon hat), evokes the fusion of feminine and cosmic references, crowned by a bird, a creature linking earth and the stars. With its bold forms and vibrant colors, the work illustrates Miró’s poetic and surrealist vision and has become one of Barcelona’s most iconic artistic landmarks.
