Museu Picasso

Set in the heart of Carrer Montcada, the Museu Picasso occupies an exceptional ensemble of five medieval palaces — Palau Aguilar, Palau Castellet, Palau Meca, Palau Finestres and the Mauri house — gradually brought together between 1963 and 1999. The museum holds the most important collection dedicated to Pablo Picasso's artistic formation, with particular focus on the years he spent in Barcelona from 1895 to 1904. Paintings, drawings, ceramics and graphic works offer a comprehensive panorama of his creative journey, from adolescent sketches to mature experimentation. The succession of Gothic courtyards, open-air staircases and galleries of slender arches makes the visit an immersion in medieval Catalan civic architecture as much as in the master's work.
