Palau de la Música Catalana

The work of Lluís Domènech i Montaner, this concert hall was built between 1905 and 1908 for the Orfeó Català. The building's metal framework is enveloped in dense, varied ornamentation. The façades combine exposed red brick and coloured ceramics, giving the whole a fantastical character. Domènech assembled the most skilled craftspeople of the time: Eusebi Arnau, Pau Gargallo and Miquel Blay for the sculptures; Lluís Bru and Mario Maragliano for the mosaics; Antoni Rigalt for the stained glass. Architect Francesc Guàrdia Vial took part in overseeing the construction.
