Palau dels Marquesos de Llió

Among the palaces of Carrer Montcada, the Marquis of Llió's palace is one of the most significant alongside Palau Dalmases. Its oldest section — a small tower and two coffered ceilings — dates to the late 13th century. The Gothic loggia on the second floor and the façade with triforate windows belong to the following century, modified in the 16th century with the addition of balconies and the replacement of the voussoir portal by a lintel. The Renaissance windows on the first floor and the window bearing the Codina coat of arms also date from the 16th century. The interior courtyard with its open-air staircase is from the early 18th century. The walls display the medieval "junta gòtica" technique — a thin lime-and-sand relief that visually harmonises the different building materials. Since 2015, the palace has housed the Museum of World Cultures alongside Palau Nadal.
